2009 Prefontaine Classic puts excitement into my runs
As a marathon runner, there aren’t too many energy packed exciting moments in my racing life, so I live vicariously through elite runners competing in events like the 2009 Pre-Classic. I’ve never been fast enough to run track events, but the energy at these meets draws me in and I end up glued to the TV watching bits of the coverage on ESPN, or reading FloTrack at the dinner table. The star at this year’s Prefontaine Classic was definitely Jenny Barringer who... Read More

Countdown to Boston: Kara Goucher gets fuel from competition
Kara is going to run in Boston and is probably feeling the countdown to Monday. Good thing she’s fueled by competition! This video is fantastic motivation both to get out the door, and it gives you something to think about while you’re out there: Why do you believe in the run? What are you running from? Kara tells me to run
I’ve gotten some questions about a workout that I’ve been doing recently called Kara Goucher’s Endurance Boost. It’s an excellent way to kick your training up a notch, and the best thing is that you don’t have to think. Kara tells you to run fast, you run fast, she says slow down, you slow down. It’s simple and the 40 minutes fly past. Before you know it, you’ve competed an excellent workout and feel amazing. Available on iTunes: Read More

Given enough time, we become increasingly creative and often produce some of our best ideas while out on the trail. My biggest challenge as a distance runner is overcoming my fear... Read More
the key to training: motivation
This weekend marks the end of my 2008 running season, and after Sunday I will start off the 09 season with base training. I’ve gotten a taste for running and marathoning over the past two years, and have been able to log some decent miles, and get some good races under my belt. In 2009, I’ll have a couple of serious decisions to make when it comes to my training. Currently I run a comfortable 4 hour marathon (sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more). I do...
