Haley comes for a run
Running means a lot to me, and the fact that I can share it with the people I love the most is a blessing. This weekend, my best friend, Haley, is coming to visit, and I’ve been busy daydreaming about all the places I get to run with her.

Haley and I have know each other for years, but we’ve never really run together. We were both swimmers, and we played ultimate frisbee together in college. As we’ve grown older, we’ve both found a love for running, and shared it with each other in various ways. I helped Haley train for her first half marathon which was a year ago this Sunday. She’s encouraged me with ample amounts of motivation, support, and well wishes.
I believe that when you run with someone, whether you’re talking and sharing stories or not, you get to know them in unexpected dimensions. Haley and I have shared an apartment, beds, tents, even showers. To say I know this girl well is an understatement. She’s a sister just as much as she’s a friend. This Saturday will be the first time we run together after proclaiming running as something more than punishment, or conditioning for some other activity, and I’m looking forward to what more I can figure out just by showing her my favorite routes around the city.
On the schedule: We’ll start out with Golden Gate Park and make it out to see the ocean at Ocean Beach and the Great Highway. Hopefully we have time for a run along the Embarcadero too, we’ll have to try and fit it in before our Dipsea trip. We’ll run over Alamo Square and meander up Twin Peaks. And we wont forget Bernal… I have to show one love my other love, and I hope neither get jealous!
Running with someone who is such a source of motivation for my training, and life in general, is a treat. I’ll be sure to share my findings, along with photos.
