Another toenail bites the dust…
I realize this is disgusting and not the most pleasant of blog post, but truth is – losing toenails is a fact of life for most marathoners. This past weekend I lost another, making this seven toenails lost over my 26 years (4 as a runner). I’m not one for keeping lost body parts around for long (is anyone?), but I suspect there are marathoners out there prideful enough to own a jar of their late toenails. If you’re one of them, please don’t fess up here… just keep that jar hidden deep in the back of your sock drawer.
For those of us that are lucky enough not to have experienced this runner’s phenomenon, congratulations, I am jealous. But… most of us end up with toenails on the Toenail Necklace.

Ha ha ha!!! Joy, you are hilarious
A jar of toenails…barf!
I haven’t yet had the pleasure of *deciding* whether to keep the little guys or not. I s’pose that means I’m not trying hard enough…or I’ve just got super-toenails!
I definitely almost threw up when I saw the picture of the necklace. That aside, I can appreciate the dedication and work that comes prior to and after the lost toenails. I’ve lost a few myself, mostly during my days of playing ultimate.
No losses for me either…
Love the necklace pic!
